a moderator message
to join peculiars you must first acknowledge that rp is a hobby and only a hobby. we demand that everyone who joins be respectful of everyone else in the community. our plan as moderators rests first and foremost on stability, and then your willingness, if you choose to join, to collaborate and be a part of the community as a whole. you should know that peculiars is aiming to focus fully on character development, creativity, world building, member collaboration, writing & active, open ooc communication. we embrace both sides of non-sol and sol and expect you to do the same.

if you are looking for information about the town, and rules within the town of peculiar, go here. for all general rp rules: see below.
rules and guidelines
setting up & applying
please use ic or ooc journals here, whichever you have available to you. no underscores or random letters/numbers will be permitted. you must have one ic and one ooc post back/future dated in your journals so that when people run the button your posts do not show up on the fp. your ooc post should have your character's full name, birthdate, hometown, neighborhood, occupation, etc. please include a 100-500 word blurb about their personality or basic history. please use the sources listed in writer to build your layouts, icons and character profiles. we ask that members set their comment settings to friends only to be proactive against anyone that may feel the need to harass members. on a final note, please avoid using no-embed in your profiles as we remove inactive people based on their flists being out of date 7+ days.

updating & activity rules
your first activity requirement is to run the add/remove button. if you do not run it once within 24 hours of being accepted we will assume you are doa and remove you. next, post your intro in the main community within 72 hours. you must reply to all of the comments left for you within 48 hours after that.

commenting intros, activities, threads and other posts should be your #1 priority. we do not have set rules about how many times you should be commenting or how many posts you need to be seen interacting with during the week but reserve the right to implement a rule if we feel this request is not being honored. if you find yourself too busy to comment intros or interactive posts for 7+ days, please let us know and consider taking a hiatus! we understand that real life makes rp hard sometimes.

update once a month with something substantial! in addition to narratives, you can also post snippets of private scenes (with consent!) in a friends-locked entry. if you're not writing in the open threading community, we know members would love to see what other members are up to from time to time.

our ooc community
we do have an ooc community that will ultimately be for members to brainstorm ideas, activities and plots with. non-members looking to join and brainstorm ideas with people can also join. since it is open to everyone it will not be on the add and remove button. if you would like to see it on your fp you have to add it manually. we want to see how active it is going to be in terms of potential members posting and looking for lines, etc. before we commit to having it fill up the fp. we suggest tracking it if you do not follow it so that you do not miss any posts.
threading community, public spaces for writing
we have an additional community for you to post open or open group threads on the fp if you wish to: occurrent. if you wish to see this sort of content on the fp be sure to also add the community as a friend as it will not be on the button for those that would not wish to see it on the fp. we do strongly encourage our members to take part in the writing community but it is not required. we understand that rp is in a fragile state and if you prefer to keep your scenes private make sure you communicate that to your threading partner. we ask also that you be open to those that would rather write in private even if you are willing to write publicly! if you post an open thread and someone wants to respond and write with you, be open to the option of moving it to your journal and backdating it so it's not on the fp. basically we are just asking everyone to respect each other's wishes in this area.

be mindful when posting in occurrent. please try not to post too many open starters on top of currently unanswered ones. we want to see any open threads posted responded to before we see others piled on top of it. be patient and be willing to take your time. it is likely this community will move slowly sometimes. we are all adults and we often can't respond more than once a day, if once a day is even possible.

nsfw & triggering content
no posts in the open threading community should contain smut. we aren't against smut; we are sure many of our members like to write it, but we ask that you keep these scenes private with your writing partner. any public threads that may begin leaning that way, please fade to back or move them to your private writing customs. as for sharing nsfw content in general, we ask that you post nothing pornographic to the fp, and if you think something may be borderline, please label it clearly for others. be mindful of any other potential triggers (i.e., violence, traumas) and use trigger/content warnings generously.

outside apps, character limit etc.
we are currently app-free. as you can see we hope to have plenty of activities and posts going on on the fp and we do not wish to see it screech to a halt because not being in more than twoeveryone has jumped on wire or discord.

our current character limit is two per writer.
